Dear guests!

I worked for the tourist office in Millstatt for four years, so I know the region very well. On this page I would like to share with you some of my insider tips for the perfect vacation in Haus Fernblick and thus in our beautiful region.

Millstatt am See is a cultural highlight and  which is over 1000 years old. The old monastery with its cloister and courtyard is a truly meditative place .

Many galleries and cultural events such as the guitar festival or the music weeks invite those interested in culture.

Take a nice walk through the town and admire the many founding villas from the time of the KuK monarchy . There is also a wide range of restaurants available in the village.

Tip:
Gmünd and the Malta Valley

Gmünd is actually worth almost more than a full-day visit. Strolling through this lovely little town gives every visitor the feeling of stepping back in time more than once.

Gmünd is an artists' town with many small and big surprises and offers insights into many studios where the artists are actively at work. Art stands and hangs on every street corner and you think you've been transported back to the Middle Ages . Gmünd is one of the oldest towns in Austria, having received its town charter as early as 1346, and the little streets and squares have lost none of their traditional atmosphere.

A museum is housed in the city tower which regularly exhibits works by world-famous artists. Exhibitions change every year. Works by Picasso, Miró and Dürrer could already be admired in Gmünd, and in 2022 works by the important artist and naturalist Maria Sibylla Merian (1647 - 1717) can be viewed. She loved butterflies and flowers, which she painted true to life in artistically original compositions.

Her fantastic lifelike illustrations are still among the most beautiful that art history has to offer in terms of depictions of plants and insects .

In, around and in front of the old castle you will also find many art objects , but inside you enjoy mainly culinary delights.

And of course you have a beautiful view of Gmünd from the castle.

If you are interested in science and want to get to know physics in a different way, you should definitely go to the Pankratium . The House of Astonishment introduces children in particular (but also curious adults) to the magic of physics in a playful way.

Porsche fans can go to the Porsche Museum - the largest private Porsche museum shows the most beautiful old and new models .

So Gmünd is worth more than just a quick visit .
